Hey there!

My name is Ksenia Tarasova. I am studying International Business at TAMK. Going to graduate this December.

I live in Finland for 3 years already. It feels that Tampere became my hometown. Originally I was born in Moscow, then after couple years my family moved to russian part of Karelia.

Couple words about my interests: my main hobby is sport. The whole my life I'm playing tennis. Actually I'm playing all possible racket sports - tennis, badminton, squash, table tennis. Also I have one artistic hobby painting.

Interests are quite different from my hobbies: I really enjoy science and especially neuroscience, philosophy and economics; entrepreneurship and start ups, ways to create innovation are part of my profession and also the thing that I like. My brand new interest is animation.

After I read my intro I realized that I'm actually a nerd, and I'm proud of it! One more prove: my current project is Robocoach Interaction.
We are team of 3 students working on a implementing robotics in physiotherapy. Our team is literally creating the future solutions. We use quite playful research methods, so even though the title of the project sounds very serious we are really having fun!

It is also my first serious experience of writing a blog: http://robocoach.tumblr.com/ Still a long way to go and learn.. therefore, I'm taking this course.

Introduction: Juho

Hello Everyone!

I'm Juho Ryhänen. I study Computer Science at Tampere University of Applied Sciences. My major studies are Digimedia and Game development. This is already my 4th year studying and hopefully I will be able to graduate by the end of 2014. Currently I'm working on my Thesis about HTML5 game development.

A Selfie.. I'm so disappointed in myself...
On my free time, I love to play video games, watch movies/TV-series and listen to all kinds of music. Cooking and baking are also something I like to do a lot which is why I try to workout every other day.

Playstation 4

Travelling is one of my favourite things to do, but I haven't had the opportunity to do that in 3 years, which kind of makes me sad. I have been to Japan, California, Turkey, Bulgaria, Spain, England and of course Sweden and Estonia. California has been my favourite so far.

I'm still not a 100% sure about what I want to do for a living, but possible something with Marketing or web design. I also might go after a second degree in Financing/Accounting which is something I have enjoyed doing in the past.

I guess that's enough of me. Time to go to bed.

Introduction: Robert

Greetings!

I am Robert from Hungary, living in Finland for almost 3 years already. Currently studying at Tampere University of Applied Sciences, and I study media and visual design. I am in love with photography, get on well with 3D animation and we are quite close friends with Adobe Illustrator. Not working at the moment, I am taking animation and video related courses from TAMK.

My free time consist of hobby photography (specially light painting), walking my dog and spending as much time as possible with my 5 months old daughter (and also her mother:)). Much activity. So busy. Wow!

Another Romanian

Hi guys!

I’m Cristina, from Cluj-Napoca, Romania.

It’s very exciting to see how many we are in this course and we’re from everywhere!
I’m happy about this because I really enjoy traveling and meeting new people. Everyone with a different past and culture, so many stories! I know this is general, but it’s about me too, in my opinion, it says a lot about me, I guess I’m open and friendly.

It’s strange to write about myself, it’s the first time I do it in such a way, so public.

Anyway, because I love traveling and meeting new people I have a job as a receptionist in a hostel in the old center of Cluj and it’s amazing! I don’t feel it yet as going to work, because there are always new people with nice, exciting stories!

I finished Art University, and I like almost everything about art. The fact that you can express your feeling in so many ways and that are actually people who understand what you wanted to say here or there. I guess a writer can do this too, or an actor, a director, but these are just different ways of art.
I enjoy more the analogue world of the arts and so much is digital now, it’s difficult to keep up.

Here are some of my analogue and digital photographs.

Another fact about my life is that I’m a volunteer at the National Organization of the Romanian Scouts. I’m a scout since 2007 and after 2 years I became a scout leader for kids between 6 and 11 years old. If you know something about scouts, maybe you know everything, maybe some misguided information, but the truth is that is great lifestyle: adventurous, fulfilling, funny, responsible.

I’m studying now Interactive Multimedia and this is why I am here. Nothing is like it was when we were growing up and now I’d like to learn how to combine my passions with the world which we live in. I want to find the balance between online and outside and I don’t mean that by taking my laptop and going outside with it, because I don’t have a laptop.

I’m looking forward to knowing you and learning from you and I hope you can learn something from me too.

But enough with learning!

Let’s also have some fun !!

Hi everyone.

I would like to start this blog post by introducing myself and sharing some of my hobbies and interests. I am 23 years old and was born in Bucharest. I have moved to Targu Mures about 11 years ago and I am enjoying it ever since. Some of my interests are: design, music, driving and gaming.

My first encounter with web design was about 9 years ago, when a friend of mine showed me what you could do with a little knowledge. That is when I decided that this was what i wanted to do for a living. I spent days and months practicing and learning new techniques, but I realized that the most important thing was your vision and inspiration. And what better way to form your ideas and vision than by looking at previous works of other designers. That is when i stumbled upon DeviantArt, a website that changed everything I knew about web design.

Besides web design I also enjoy writing articles and content for gaming websites, as a part-time job. It really calms me and guides all my attention to that particular game and article. These small articles have to describe the content and make it as attractive as possible for the players. A good written article can change the mind of the reader and convince them to check out the game.

One of the most relaxing things for me, is driving. I really enjoy it and calms me down whenever I am mad or sad. It really changes my mood and relaxes me, so whenever I have the time, I go for a ride.

That’s about it, some of the things I like and enjoy doing.

Why use labels when you can use #hashtags!

Hello!
My name is Heidi Mäenpää and online I go as Kierokielo. I am a fourth year Media student at TAMK finalizing my Thesis project as we speak. I am focusing on game design in my studies, and mainly do visual development. I am also doing UI design, illustration and traditional painting whenever I have the time.

Here is a fancy picture of me (you would hire me now, wouldn't you?) and my logo. More info about it here.

I am also working at TAMK Social Robotics research group as a UI designer & animator. We are aiming to start a company in a couple of months when the TAMK project ends, and our main focus is providing physiotherapists with 3D animated instructions for their patients. We were accepted to Protomo to develop our business idea, so now all we need to do is start selling and get (hopefully) millions. ;)

Here are two NAO robots our unit received a few days ago. They are adorable and very smart! Our team is also part of two Demola projects which are developing concepts for these robots. I am leading the RoboCoach project and hoping to see amazing, and innovative, results in May when the project ends.

I love to travel around and visit places that inspire me somehow. One of the most beautiful places I have visited is the Grand Canyon. The place is huge. HUGE. In the picture you can probably see the two (ants) people standing near the ledge. If there is a place where everybody should visit, this is it. It is a long flight but totally worth it!

I also love sketching people. Especially when they are unaware of it...! I don't have much time for it at the moment, but I still try to do it as often as possible. This is one of my favorites, my grandpa :)

Other than these I watch practically every animation I can, listen to weird music and try to learn to code, or at least try to learn to understand code! I enjoy networking and meeting new people, especially at large gatherings like game conferences. Out of social media sites I think Twitter is the most fun, because it is the fastest. And people are usually hilarious! I just need to start tweeting more ;)

And I need to stop taking pictures with Instagram. It is so pretty and easy though! Don't judge me! #shame #smile #thanksforreading

Hello!

Hello! My name is Veronika and I am a third year International Business student at TAMK. I chose Marketing and Accounting options as my major studies (I'm still rubbish with financing thought). So in the future, I probably see myself doing something related to marketing. Maybe.

I was born in Russia, but have been living here in Finland for the past 8 years. Tampere is one of my most favourite cities in the world. Living here has been a wonderful experience so far, and i'm totally in love with this place.

Tampere, Sept. 2013
In my spare time, I enjoy reading and running (not at the same time). And I listen to the music a lot. I got my earphones on almost 70 percent of the time that I'm awake. And riding a bike during the rush hours in the city center, while listening to a very loud music, is my extreme hobby. Yeah, I know, I'm a threat to society :)

Well, that's about it. Cheers!

I miss summer :(

Introduction: Adriana

Hi!

My name is Adriana and I’m 21 years old. I’m from Barcelona (Spain) but I study Tourism in Madrid. Currently I’m on my Erasmus here in Tampere University of Applied Sciences. I love travelling, meeting new people, discovering different cultures and learning other languages. That’s why I want to travel around the world and after my graduation I would like to become an Event Manager.

Reading is one of my biggest passions in life. I can spend hours and hours reading without getting bored. One of my other hobbies is to try different kinds of food, go to new restaurants and discover exotic dishes from other cultures.

That's me during my trip to Lapland!

Someone from Madrid

Hello everyone!

My name is Esteban and I come from Madrid (Spain). I’m studying Business Administration and Management in the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos of Madrid. Actually I’m in Tampere as an exchange student in Tampere University of Applied Sciences finishing my degree.

What I really like is going out and spend the time with my friends, also meeting new people. I like a lot of sports: running, sporting climbing, skiing… and also swimming, for that reason work as life-guarder in swimming pools in summer. But unfortunately I don’t have enough time for doing it.

I have to say that I’m in love with my city, Madrid, I like the lifestyle there. And the best thing is that it doesn’t matter the weather, it doesn’t matter the day of the week and it doesn’t matter the time; there are always people in the street.

I would like to work in e-Business Strategy or something about marketing and publicity.

Introduction: Essi

Hello all,

I'm Essi, better known as Kisse, a third-year film & TV student currently residing in Montréal, Canada and working for a company that makes linguistic and bug testing for video games. I'm an eternal traveler, probably will never graduate, hold a steady job or find a place to settle down but that's all okay - I'll just live in the moment and see how things go.

I really have no idea what to write here! Umm... I like reading, writing, animals, traveling and cooking. And a bunch of other stuff but let's not be self-centered here.

I believe my destiny in life is to travel as much as possible, become a wilderness guide, lose my mind and move to Nunavut to a little hut with no electricity and have a husky farm. Sounds good eh?

I'm gonna add a few awkward photos of me, just so that you know who to blame when I'm posting nonsense or asking weird questions.

Roadtripping in northern Norway in 2013
Do not go to Pattaya unless you wanna be mistaken for a rich Russian tourist and pay to sit on a damn beach.

Describe your life in Iceland, one word.

Introduction: Satu M

Hi everyone!

My name is Satu Mattila and I am studying Computer Science here in Tampere University of Applied Sciences. I am trying to graduate this year, so let's all hope that's gonna happen. Currently I work as an part-time Marketing Coordinator at Helsinki, and that kind of job is what I want to do after my graduation.

I live in Hämeenlinna, and as you can imagine, working in Helsinki and studying in Tampere causes me a lot of traveling. Big part of my days is sitting on the train, so that does not leave me too much time for hobbies. Luckily reading is one thing you can do on the train, so that's what I do a lot!

I also enjoy walking outside in the nature when it's sunny outside, so I am really excited about the early spring! Winter makes me cranky as a little child so luckily that's almost over! :)

Me enjoying the summertime!

Anne's introduction

Hi,

I'm Anne-Mari, or more commonly called Anne, IT services student in adult education program in TAMK, Tampere University of Applied Science. I'm about to graduate this spring and am looking for new work opportunities closer to home, after working over 15 years full time in Helsinki. Last year and a half I've focused on my studies, "slow life" and family.

I've been working in product and project management, and those are the positions I plan to seek in the future. Maintaining the balance between career and home is important to me. For me the best place to be when it gets too stressful, is nature. I love trekking, fishing, picking berries.... But enjoy also games, music, films, travelling and especially cooking. Right now I'm enthusiastic about raw diets, smoothies and (thanks to my brand new "stove size" paella pan from Spain), paella and Spanish cuisine!

It's the little things that make me happy, like this bumblebee in Angelica sylvestris, "Wild Angelica" or "Bears Angelica" as we call it here in Finland.

Perfect Porcini
I've noticed, that even when I know what I'm looking for, like this perfect Porcini,
Cloudberries and blueberries we accidently found last summer
it sometimes pays off to walk unknown paths. Last summer we stumbled on these sweet cloudberries and huge blueberries, while we went trekking on ice gorge area near Tampere. Lucky I had a small bucket in my backpack!
I'm also taking my time to smell the flowers.
Linnea BorealisThese are called Linnea Borealis, and smell amazing!

Introduction: Noora

Yo yo and whadap!

My name is Noora and I'm a Tampere University of Applied Sciences, and I study media and visual design. I'm currently working for a importer and wholesaler in the pet product industry, so I get to do graphic design with cute dogs and kitties all day long. I'm into marketing and visual design and hopefully I'm able to work with these somehow combined in the future as well.

I'm a dog freak and I'm waiting for my puppy to grow so she can come home from the breeder. Just six weeks to go! She's going to take all my free time from then on, but I try to fit some dancing and gym in there too.

Here's one of the puppies - she might be the one coming home with me! Cute or what!
Me and my sister being über cool at our dance show last year. And yes - we're too old for that.

Introduction: Sofia

My name is Sofia, and I’m an exchange student of Media in TAMK. In my country (Spain), I study Audiovisual Communication in the Pompeu Fabra University (Barcelona), which combines both theoretical and practical aspects of film and Tv studies. My biggest passion in life has always been cinema. I love watching and writing about films, and also scriptwriting and shooting. In the future, I would like to work as an editor of movie reviews in some film magazine and as a scriptwriter. Finally, I also enjoy reading, and I’m a cultural lover in general.

Introduction: Hyerim Kwon

My name is Hyerim Kwon, just turned to 22 years old. I am an exchange student from South Korea, and studying media in TAMK.
Actually, I have two majors in home university. One is culture contents and another one is Korean language & literature. And I worked at university press as an editor in chief for 3 years. I did interviews, made articles and managed layouts. Consequently, these activities gave me big influences; I am especially interested in journal, so I want to be a journalist in film magazine. And I am also interested in film, advertisement and city planning.

Korea education is focused on ‘theory’. And I am used to learning something by lecture without interacting. But since I’m here, I found the interesting thing that education method in Finland is totally different from Korea. I am so happy to go through vigorous atmosphere in class here. And also it is nice to learn practical things. I’ve never had these exiting classes like here before.

I have a lot of free time here in Finland, so I trying to watch as many movies as I can these days. I love watching movies, travelling and making accessories.

My plans in this year (Borrowed form from professor :D )
1) Interview Tampere city hall worker to make a graduation thesis.
(Subject of thesis is related with comparing cities Tampere to Seoul)
2) Search for internship in Finland or Korea.
3) Love myself (I’m kind of a low self-esteem person)
4) Travel all over Europe.
5) Workout hard.
6) Think about being a good person than having a good occupation.

My name is Alba

My name is Alba.

Hi everyone! As you can see in the title, my name is Alba. I am 20 years old and I was born in Ourense (north-west of Spain) but I moved to Barcelona (a city that you probably know better) in order to start my studies of Audiovisual Comunication at the Pompeu Fabra University. Currently, I am coursing my third year of college as an exchange student at TAMK studying the Media degree.

As my studies selection may suggest you, I’ve always loved film and television. I like all kind of films since comedy till melodrama. Some of my favourite directors are Haneke, Lars Von Trier, Woddy Allen, Scorsese or Tarantino. As I said before I also like watching TV shows, I’ve watched a lot of series such as The Sopranos, Six Feet Under, The Office and infinite more.

When I’m not sitting watching TV, travelling is one of my other hobbies. I’ve been in a lot of places all around the world and I hope to visit more and more. I also like playing voleyball and I know how to play the piano althought I have to “relearn” a bit since I can’t practice if I’m not home. Talking about music, I am a big fan of it, I like all types but maybe my preferences are classics (Pink Floyd, Bob Dylan, Bowie, Joy Division…) and alternative bands (The Strokes, Arctic Monkeys, Vampire Weekend…)

About job perspective, I would like to work in something related with the cinema world, I love writting stories so being a scriptwriter is one of my goals. I also love web designing so, if I cannot achieve a film-television related job, I would like to work designing logos or webpages.

Finally, and despite I know you have a lot of imagination, this is a picture of me so you can put a face behind this words.

Introduction: Antti

Hello everyone!

I'm co-hosting this course together with Cai. I live in the middle of nowhere in a small place called Kuivaskylä with my wife and two toddlers, but we will be escaping closer to Tampere soon. My current hobbies revolve strongly around bitcoin, website building and internet marketing. I'm also very interested in electronics and video game design. Here's me in a video game :D

Play me!

To balance the countless hours that I sit in front of a computer, I try to get out in the nature once in a while. I love camping and I especially love hunting for mushrooms in the autumn.

Here's me and the mini version on a forest trip. Geeks might notice the electric mosquito killer on the table :D

My social media usage revolves strongly around the forums I administer and more and more around a place called Reddit. I don't use Facebook much (but will naturally make an exception for this course). I have several Youtube accounts and I try to gather some extra income with Adsense.

I have had the spirit of entrepreneurship in me since a little child and besides teaching I have been running a small business since 2005. In my theory, going all the way back to the mythical days of Sampo, the "finnish dream" has been to build a device that can automatically generate income for you. Now with the help of internet, such income generators really do exist! Let's build some! :)
